For those of you like me, who struggle with a need to see before believing, I've found at least two passages recently that help gratify that desire to know more than just the written word of God. I've been studying a German Bible, so I might learn two things at once, and have loved the book of first John. He talks of "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life. The life was manifested.." again, having been seen, and witnessed, John is declaring this eternal life which was from the father God, and then manifested in person TO us, in Christ!..and goes on to say that they have seen, and heard..etc. Well if I can't personally see Jesus now, then of course God's Word is the only place where we find consistant accounts of his life by those who either knew of his future coming, or those who saw and heard him. If we trust their accounts, we just as well might have seen Him as they so clearly emphasize their experience with Him.
Paul also says the same thing, in Ephesians, as he figuratively "bows his knees," he prays to God that we would be granted strength and might through His Spirit, that He would dwell in our hearts through faith (the unseen), but rooted and grounded in love, (the obvious when in true form); that we might comprehend with all the saints the width and length and depth and height- the love of Christ which passes all knowledge; and filled with all the fullness of God. Many of these things become more unseen, but known by those who know Him, but then fulfill our desire to have seen Him ourselves, through the testimony of those who have seen Him.
He also claims to be the least of all saints, as I think we all would find ourselves too; and then preaches these "unsearchable riches, to make all see what the fellowship of this mystery is, from the beginning. He says that these things hidden in God who created all, might be made clear by His wisdom to all principalities and powers according to His purpose in Christ who gives us boldness and confidence in approaching Him through faith!
That is pretty profound a priviledge to approach Christ, as many of other faiths do not find solace in. Our personal access to our Lord makes the Christian faith not one of more astute followers, but only that which gives us the grace to be made more humble as we can each one speak with the Creator of all things.
The first part of first John as well as Ephesians states, "That which was from the beginning." These things have always been; so we who are so young and ignorant, can trust these ancient words which have gone through such deep review and withstood the years of ridicule. They testify, "concerning the Word of Life," or "vom Wort des Lebens," as written in German. The German tone resonates in my heart and mind, as words carry with them strong implications, and in a tongue I only begin to learn, the continual and necessary review allows me to meditate more closely than I would in our familiar language.
Vom Wort des Lebens- Concerning The Word of life; may it bring you life, and more abundantly than you can imagine.

The simple Life
I'm going to be an oxymoron and say that I slightly feel this may be one more thing to further my distractions, and that it is a varied duplicate of every other form of communication that we've had since the telephone was created. However I'm excited to share incites and learn a world of new incites from other people as well.
I've just joined, and just hope that the time I put into this is worth it. How much is too much? Balance is key in life, and as long as putting people first is not at the beginning of my motives, but only Christ, then others, I think this will be a good thing.
I feed of other peoples great ideas, as we all do; for nothing is new under the sun, and thats what relationships are for right?
We don't so much have the simple life anymore; everything from scratch, low level technology, and a few great friends. We have the capacity to greet thousands of people each year, through internet, and networking, and that is just what we were created for; relationship. Ultimately relationship with Christ should rise above all, but as we engage in communication with other people of diverse backgrounds, we are better for it. There is a reason for everything, so I believe each person can and will affect us in a unique way to make us who we are.
As my sister in law Liz recently observed with us as we visited Germany, her for the first time; people are people, we are all the same when it comes down to what we desire in life. We just manifest it in a variety of ways based on culture and upbringing.
I see the world of people we live in as a helpless group of people. Some brilliant, rich, poor, weak, strong, confident, humble, falsely humble, fake, genuine, beautiful, despised,..and so on; but altogether, nothing without our Lord, whom gives all to all. All things come from Him, and should be given back to Him.
And so lets not strive for unattainable goals, but only that which He has truely set forth for us to follow; the calling that He has given each of us- to teach, to learn, to build up, and find our true worth in Him who has promised us His truth from the beginning to the end.
Alpha and Omega; Your will be done.
